Photography – Shutter Speeds

So shutter speeds

Freezing motion

Use 1/2000 to stop moving objects in their tracks – use camera on shutter priority and select a fast shutter speed – this however doesn’t show that things were moving – it will just stop the action.

Suggesting motion

Use 1/80 shutter speed to show a bike or car moving creating a blur – however background should stay in focus.

Panning action

moving the camera in the direction the object is travelling in – just make sure you have enough room to move – background will be out of focus but the object will be slightly blurred using 1/80

By setting the aperture to F2.8 the background will deff be out of focus drawing attention to the subject.
